Your Animal Care Social Media Story

Hi,

Have you ever wondered how some people seem to find social media easy? It’s important to remember that not everyone is like that, so if you’re a bit unsure how to use it for your animal care business, then you’re not alone! Even people who appear to be super-confident or an “expert” aren’t necessarily so.

I’m doing a course at the moment – which is quite transformational really and I’ve got access to some insightful coaches and leaders.  One of which is Jordan Bach (check out his instagram at https://www.instagram.com/jordanbach/ for some awesome tips!).

So why do I mention this to you, well because Jordan shared a great way to help anyone use social media – even those who are a bit unsure how to ‘face the world’.  This was for you to imagine that your social media profile is your chance to have your own Talk Show!

Write your own script. What message do you want to share? What do you want people to know and when do you want to tell them? Be in control of what you know you want the world to know about you and your service.

It can be easy to get ‘swept along’ with what look like trends, and thinking you need to post things like other people. Now of course you should be engaging with people (putting the “social” into social media!), and also participating in relevant hashtags/ discussions – but be authentic to you and be sure that before you post, you think about if you are being ‘truly helpful’. As an animal care professional (whether that be veterinary surgeon, physiotherapist, dog walker, animal behaviourist, etc), do you know and believe you’re going to be helping animals to be happy and healthy by your posts?

It doesn’t matter if you think you have a small audience or a large one – be authentic to yourself, it isn’t about trying to ‘force’ people to like what you’re posting, people who want their animals to be healthy and happy will find you.

My challenge to you today is to think about whether on the social media you’re using, if you’re ‘broadcasting’ what you really want? Would you watch out in your own social media feed for what you’re posting?!

If you’re are  posting authentically to you – fab-u-lous, but if not, then make a change NOW! You are unique and embrace that – hundreds if not thousands of animals will be grateful!
